HEALTHY HUNGER PANGS: MAKING YOUR KIDS EAT HEALTHY

Seeing your little munchkins reach out for those candy bars and cream biscuits is a good old problem. It’s a challenge in almost any household with toddlers to make them eat healthy and stay fit but it isn’t easy to make them eat healthy either! If they don’t see those luscious candy bars and snacks coming their way, then you can expect a tantrum to knock you off balance.

Here’s a quick list of how you can make your kids eat, love, and enjoy healthy food:

  1. Set the example. Your tiny tots find your habits “cool” and emulate whatever they see. As long as you end up eating food which is high on health, you’re kids are bound to follow suit.
  2. Make it a practice at home. Show them some hobbies surrounding healthy eating such as stacking your fridge with quirky labels on healthy veggies or having a garden full of healthy vegetables.
  3. Use their hobbies to your advantage. If your kids love cartoons, keep pointing at why Bugs Bunny is chewing before the “Eh… what’s up doc?” or how Popeye gets a build worth craving for through spinach.
  4. Make them participate in the kitchen. Give them activities such as peeling off vegetable while you explain how healthy they are.
  5. Have them treat food like it’s medicine. Serve them all the vegetables and fruits they need while you emphatically state how energetic or strong they’re going to get post consumption.
  6. Make them quench their thirst with water rather than packaged drinks and soda. Show them that their thirst for a drink is easily extinguished when they gulp a bottle full of water.
  7. Give their snack appetite a healthy makeover. Have them replace their chips and candy bars with fruit and nut salads which are tasty while being extremely tempting.
  8. Finally, the family dinner. It’s a known fact that a large percentage of well-to-do households eat their meals together. Most importantly, these family dinners are an easy way to communicate the benefits of healthy eating to your tiny tots.
